Rochas Okorocha Humiliated, Denied Access To Senate Inauguration

By Andrew Onyejuruuwa
Rochas Okorocha, the immediate past governor of Imo State faced serious embarrassment when he arrived the National Assembly premises at 7:40.am on Tuesday ahead of the inauguration. He was bluntly denied accreditation.

Okorocha, was declared winner of the Imo West Senatorial District but the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returning official who oversaw the election in Imo State told the whole world that he declared Okorocha winner under duress. Okorocha therefore was not issued certificate of return by INEC. His closest rival, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Hon. Jones Onyereri, who is alleged to have won the senate ticket, is in court with Okorocha over the issue.

However, a federal high court in Abuja last week ordered that Okorocha be given his return certificate, which probably prompted his attempt to attend the just concluded inauguration of the 9th assembly. It was, however, gathered that Okorocha was not accredited by the National Assembly management to attend the inauguration.
