An Igbo pressure group with the objective of seeing to the development of the entire Igboland – the Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF), said it has concluded plans to elect new national officers of the foundation, who will succeed Professor T. Uzodinma Nwala-led executive on Saturday, June 29th.
An affiliate of the foundation which operates under the banner of ADF-Youth League made the disclosure in a press statement it issued in Enugu on Saturday. The Youth League also said that after the election, the new ADF national officials will be inaugurated during the 10th ADF anniversary celebration which holds at Umuahia, the capital of Abia State in July.
NewsBits recalls that the Secretary, Publicity Committee of ADF 10th Anniversary, Mazi Oluchi Ibe, had in a statement issued earlier on said that the Igbo world is agog with the highly anticipated 10th Anniversary ceremony of ADF, adding that the “epic event comes up 12th to 13th July 2024, at the prestigious Abia State Conference Center, Umuahia.”
However, in their capacity as acting chairman and secretary of the ADF Youth League, Comrade Osita Chukwuagbanarinam and Chidiebere Onwudiwe, who signed the press statement, respectively, explained that the authentic ADF election into the executive committee is scheduled for the 29th of June,2024, at the ADF secretariat in Enugu.
Part of the statement further stated: “This election will duly elect new executives who will be inaugurated during the 10th Anniversary. The ADF Abia State Chapter has dissociated itself from the so-called reference by Abia Onyike and has withdrawn all its sponsored candidates, meaning the current leadership (Nwala and his team), remains in place until the upcoming election.”
The Youth League, also cautioned that it would not “tolerate plots by detractors to take over leadership of ADF unjustly,” emphasizing that “The ADF Youth League condemns any attempt to make the Igbo Nation a subject of ridicule. We will not tolerate any coup plotting as a means of changing leadership within the ADF or the Igbo Nation at large”.
