Enugu State Executive of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, has suspended its Governorship candidate in the just concluded election, Hon Omeje Samson for alleged anti party activities.

Also suspended is the House of Reps candidate of the party in Enugu South federal constituency, Comrade Ifeanyi Omiko. He was suspended for the same offence of working against the interest of the party during the election.

The suspension was announced by the State chairperson of the party Chief Mrs Chinyere Juliana Madike aka (Odibeze) shortly after the State Executive Meeting in Enugu.

She said; “the ADP state executive meeting has decided to suspend Hon Omeje Nnamdi Samson, the Guber Candidate and Comrade Ifeanyi Omiko, Enugu South House of Rep Candidate for the offenses committed which is against ADP’s Constitution.

She noted that the action of the SEC was based on the provisions of the party constitution, Article 52:2 which states inter alia that “subject to this constitution, the party shall have power to discipline any member (d) who engages in dishonest practices, defrauds the party, its members or officials and (f) engages in anti-party activities.

Mrs Madike said that Omeje Samson Nnamdi and his boy Ifeanyi Omiko, “sold ADP Agents Tags to Labour Party and since the election, two of them have been working assiduously for Labour Party, to the extent that Ifeanyi Omiko came to the collation centre as an Agent and used that avenue to fight for Labour Party for which he was caught red handed.”

She further cited Section 52:3 (b) which empowers the State Executive Committee to punish offenders in line with the provisions of the constitution.

Section 52:3 (b) states: “subject to the provisions of this constitution, the Executive Committees at all levels, shall have power to decide on any of the disciplinary measures to be taken against erring members at all times.”
