In preparation for the planned flight resumption when the government opens Nigeria’s domestic travel, which was shut down to curtail the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in March, Air Peace on Wednesday commenced its out of storage test flights for its 25 aircraft.
Aircraft are not like other vehicles, which you can park for a long time and kick the engine and drive without ‘shaking down the planes’ Stanley Olisa, Air Peach spokesperson said the storage test flights were aimed at ensuring the aircraft are in top condition having been grounded for close to three months under very strict storage maintenance.
According to him, the airline embarked on the exercise to demonstrate its strength and readiness to resume operations with the mixed fleet of aircraft; including three wide body Boeing 777, which flew from Lagos to Abuja, Port Harcourt and back to Lagos without passengers. He said the shakedown flights were also part of the measures the carrier has developed to guarantee the safety of both passengers and crew members when Air Peace resumes.
