President Muhammadu Buhari who flagged off the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano Gas pipeline project has said the government is committed to ensuring a timely delivery of the pipeline project within the budgetary allocation and specifications.
Buhari who spoke at the virtual flag-off ceremony on Tuesday said the project when completed will provide gas for the generation of power, which in turn would facilitate the development of new industries in the country.
He said the gas pipeline project is significant to Nigeria because it will also ensure the revival of moribund industries along transit towns of Kogi, Niger, Kaduna and Kano states including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT, Abuja.
Minister of Petroleum Resources, Timipre Silva also said the project will serve as a backbone of gas production in Nigeria. Apart from that the project, a part of the Trans-Nigeria gas pipeline is expected to integrate the Northern and southern part of Nigeria when completed. It will also facilitate an additional power generation capacity of 3,600Megawatts.
