Campaign organisation of House of Representatives member, Prince Ofor Chukwuegbo, has confirmed the attack on the campaign team in which a driver was shot dead and set ablaze.
In a statement signed by the Director- General Team Ofor Campaign Organization, Hon. Chiene I. Chiene, the team described the attack on their personnel in the evening of Wednesday, February 22,2023 as unprovoked.
“In the cowardly attack, one of our members and a minister of the gospel Enyeribe Kingsley Chinedu, popularly known as KC the Great, was savagely killed in cold blood by a gang of assailants who also set the deceased and the mini bus he drove on fire, before making good their escape. Enyeribe Kingsley Chinedu, killed in the attack
“The attack was shocking as it was barbaric, unprovoked, particularly as we had run a decent, exclusively issue-based campaign leading up to this moment. We are in mourning, even as we remain resolute and determined to see out this electioneering process, even with the setback, knowing that evil shall never prevail over good.
“Our heart goes out to the family and friends of our fallen colleague whom we consider a martyr, having paid the supreme price in our campaign to make our society a better place, through honest, resourceful service. We urge the security agencies, particularly the police to get to the root of this dastard attack and bring the perpetrators to instant justice. “We shall observe this day as no-campaign day, in honour of our murdered colleague. Our members and supporters are enjoined to stay calm and vigilant this period while the police do their work…”
