Bandits Invade Hospital, Kill Six, Kidnap Nurses, Patients

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed six people and abducted several others, including nurses and patients, from a hospital during a late-night raid on Kallah Afogo Community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

It was gathered the incident occurred around 11:15pm on Sunday, when the assailants stormed the village, breaking into homes and taking residents captive. Among those killed were Garkuwa Alfarma, Buhari Maidiga, Uba Auta, Yakubu Gaku, and Atabata Naallah.

One resident, who bravely pursued the attackers into the bush, was killed, with his body reportedly mutilated. Following the Kallah attack, the bandits targeted Bakin Pah in Maro Ward, within the same council, where they killed one more person and abducted six others.

Maigari Ben, a local community leader, called on security agencies to urgently increase their presence and efforts to safeguard the area and secure the release of the abducted victims. However, the Kaduna State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement regarding the attack.

Meanwhile, in Kuyello, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area, two nurses and several patients were abducted from a Primary Health Care Centre. Musa Alhassan, a local vigilante, reported that the bandits had initially targeted the nearby Government Day Secondary School around 9 a.m. on Sunday.

“When the bandits discovered the school was empty, they shifted their focus to the healthcare centre, which was close by. They arrived at the school asking for the students, but after realising it was deserted, they stormed the healthcare centre and began kidnapping people.”

The bandits, originally seeking to abduct students, ended up taking two female nurses and an unknown number of patients, plunging the community into panic. They came armed with guns and machetes, dragging people out of the hospital, and we were powerless to stop them,” Alhassan added.
