Nigerian singer, actor and human rights activist, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has taken a swipe at the Minister of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa after she visited ailing actor, Zack Orji at the hospital.
The media had earlier reported that the minister disclosed that the veteran Nollywood thespian had a brain surgery. She made this known while soliciting support for the actor after her visit to him at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National Hospital, Abuja.
Speaking via a statement released by her spokesperson, Nneka Anibeze on Wednesday, Musawa said: “We have watched him entertain us, and we see him as a national treasure. So, the best we can do is to ensure that we support him in getting the best treatment.
“We will also reach out to other well-meaning Nigerians to support him through prayers and other means to ensure that he survives this ailment. God will heal him. We will do all we can to support him. We solicit the collective prayers of Nigerians.”
Reacting to her visit in a post on his X handle, Charly Boy called Musawa an attention seeker, noting that the ailing actor is the least of Nigeria’s problems. He tweeted: “Chronic attention seekers make we hear word. Nigeria currently has a bigger terminal problem bigger than Zack Orji.
“Don’t get it twisted, He’s a respected Nigerian icon. His contributions are there for all to see. If una wan help Zack, carry am go abroad since na una strong supporter. National hospital is a mortuary.”
He went on to question how the visits bring down the price of petrol or the rising cost of living in the country.
