The management of Arik Air said it has leased a Boeing 737-700 aircraft in order to enhance its operational capacity this Christmas period and beyond as a result of increasing travel demands.
The airline, in a statement by Mr. Adebanji Ola, its Communication Manager, said that the aircraft, which was leased from Eznis Airways would be deployed to operations on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.
Ola said the aircraft has arrived its facilities at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos on November 21, 2020, adding that the leased aircraft would enable Arik Air return to some routes, which were suspended at the wake of the dreaded coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic which crippled travel and business activities across the globe. He also stated that the aircraft would boost Arik Air’s fleet and operations in readiness for the Christmas season, which attracts huge movement of people from one end of the country to the other.
The statement also quoted Capt. Roy Ilegbodu, the Chief Executive Officer, Arik Air as saying that the deployment of the aircraft would further ensure seamless operations by the airline. He said: “We are pleased to announce the additional airplane to boost our operations and ensure we provide seamless and efficient service to our customers in this season.”
