DAME Awards: Delta State Governor Oborevwori Congratulates Obaigbena, Adesina, Nation Newspapers

The Delta State Governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has congratulated media mogul and Founder of Thisday Newspapers/Arise Media Group, Prince Nduka Obaigbena on his well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award at the Diamond Awards for Media Excellence (DAME) held in Lagos.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori said the award was a befitting recognition for Obaigbena’s exemplary contributions to the growth of journalism, media ownership and practice in Nigeria. He remarked that Obaigbena has made significant contributions to the noble profession with well-deserved innovations, adding that his leadership and inspirational work earned him the nickname “The Duke” of journalism.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Delta, I congratulate our illustrious son and leader, Prince Nduka Obaigbena, on his investiture with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Diamond Awards for Media Excellence. As a media virtuoso, a flawless journalist and one of Delta’s pride, Obaigbena’s contributions to the expansion and advancement of Nigeria’s media sector will always be remembered in the annals of Nigerian history,” Oborevwori said.

In a related development, Governor Oborevwori also congratulated The Nation Newspaper and its Editor, Mr Adeniyi Adesina, for winning the Newspaper of the Year and Editor of the Year awards, respectively at the 32nd edition of the Diamond Award for Media Excellence.

Governor Oborevwori lauded The Nation media outfit for its sustainable growth strategy since it was founded on July 31st, 2006. He noted that, in just 17 years of it’s existence, The Nation Newspaper had continued to blaze the trail as one of the leading newspapers in the Country and urged the management and staff to sustain the winning tempo.
