Enugu APC Suspends Chairman, 19 Others For Gross Misconduct

By Tony Adibe

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Enugu State Chapter said it has suspended its Chairman in Enugu South Local Government Area, Ndubuisi Agbo alongside 19 other Local Government Executive in the 17 Local Government Areas for gross misconduct.

In a communique issued at the end of its stakeholders’ meeting held at the party Secretariat in G.R.A., Enugu, the state party Chairman, Ugochukwu Agballa said the suspended members were invited by a disciplinary committee for a fair hearing, but they refused to come.

The meeting also expressed dismay over the recent display of gross indiscipline and total disregard to the APC Constitution by some “misguided party members” who reportedly met and purportedly announced the suspension of the Enugu state Chairman of APC, Ugochukwu Agballah; the State Deputy Chairman, Augustine Alumonah; the State Treasurer, Jude Aniogbo and the state Organising Secretary, Emeka Eze.

Agballa stated: “These are people who have long been working with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state and they were instigated and sponsored by PDP as a part of her already known strategy to destabilize APC and keep it in perpetual crisis.” The stakeholders observed that the actors are only 14 in number but they went ahead to allegedly forge peoples signatures and appended their names as if they were part of the illegality, without their consent.

According to Agballa, “The more than 35 persons whose signatures were forged and names appended in the purported suspension document without their consent have issued a disclaimer distancing themselves from the illegality.”

The stakeholders further observed that the purported suspension did not follow due process as no meeting was held, no petition was written, and it was never discussed at SEC and the national levels were never notified. According to the stakeholders, no fact finding was made in accordance with the party’s Constitution before the purported announcement of illegal suspension.

However, the party has set up an 8-man Committee to review the case of those who were earlier suspended by the party but have now indicated interest to return to the party.

Agballa also spoke on the people who made up the committee. He said: “The Committee is headed by Hon. Jude Aniogbo, members are Chineme Idike, Dr Simon Attah, Titus Ezeagu, Ozor Ejike Aroh, Obinna Egbe, Blessing Odenigbo and Architect Okey Amorha will serve as secretary.”

Commenting on to the Supreme Court judgement, the stakeholders sent a hearty congratulations to the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma over his resounding victory at the Supreme Court in the PDP and Labour Party suit challenging his re-election.

They also lauded Governor Uzodinma for his outstanding leadership of the party in the South East zone. The Enugu APC stakeholders also thanked Ndigbo for not participating in the recent #EndBadGovernance” protest against the government of President  Bola Tinubu.

Agballa further restated: “We have absolute confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President.  The APC Enugu State is ready and will fully participate in the forthcoming Enugu State Local Government Council Elections.

“The stakeholders encouraged the teeming party faithful in the state to keep faith with the party and not relent in holding their regular meetings at the Wards and Local Government Areas. The party and the federal government will not disappoint them.”
