Enugu CP, Uzuegbu Redeploys Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad Commander Over Murder Of Ogene Musician

…Says Investigation Concluded, Implicated Police Officer Undergoing Orderly Room Trial

The Enugu State police command says it’s Criminal Investigation Department (State CID) has concluded investigation into the “tragic and unwarranted shooting and killing” of Enugu-based Ogene musician, Chikezie Okezie Nwamba “m” (a.k.a. Igbo-Jah).

Though the finding by the investigation team especially on what led to the shooting of the musician inside the police station is yet to be disclosed, the command has ordered immediate redevelopment of the Officer in Charge of the Tactical Squad, SP Ekeleme Chidobe.

The command said in a statement by its spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, on Sunday, that the orderly room trial of the implicated Police Inspector, Ozonwanji Joseph, has commenced. He explained that the “trial will facilitate the next course of action in accordance with the Nigeria Police Force’s disciplinary procedures.”

Ndukwe said in the latest update on the incident: “The Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Officer in Charge of the Tactical Squad, SP Ekeleme Chidobe, to allow for a comprehensive review of the Squad’s operations.

“CP Kanayo reaffirms his commitment to ensuring that justice is done in the case and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism among all police officers in the State. He calls on the citizenry to continue to keep the faith and support the police, especially “in bringing this case to a justifiable conclusion.”
