Enugu LG Chairmen Directed To Handover To HPM As Tenure Elapses

The Enugu State government has directed the 17 local government chairmen in the state to handover to their respective Head of Personnel Management (HPM). The tenure of the current Chairmen elapsed today, 4th March, 2024.

The Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development & Chieftaincy Affairs, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, said the directive is in “line with the extant laws guiding tenure-ship of elected Chairmen and Councillors in our Local Government Council Areas.”

The public service announcement reads: The Tenure of the Chairmen and Councillors of the 17 Local Government Areas in Enugu State, formally came to an end on the 4th of March 2024.

Consequently, all the Council Chairmen are expected to handover to the Head of Personnel Management (HPM) in each Local Government, with effect from today, the 4th of March 2024. This is in line with the extant laws guiding tenure-ship of elected Chairmen and Councillors in our Local Government Council Areas.
