Enugu PDP Has No Crisis – Says Mbah

By Tony Adibe

The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Enugu State for 2023 general election, Barrister Peter Mbah, has said that there is no crisis whatsoever currently affecting the party within the state.

Barrister Mbah made the disclosure while answering questions from journalists at the NUJ Press Center, after the public presentation of his manifesto on Thursday, at the Peter Mbah Law Auditorium in the Faculty of Law, Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu. He quickly restated that the PDP as a political party is one solid family in Enugu state and has no crisis.

He emphasised: “we (PDP) don’t have crisis in Enugu PDP.  We are solid together. There is absolutely no crisis in Enugu PDP.” Mbah was answering a particular question that certain candidates running for political offices seem not to be working in accordance with the philosophy of the PDP, such as Senator Chimaroke Nnamani contesting for the Senate with the PDP ticket but who is allegedly supporting the APC presidential candidate, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and that his (Nnamani’s) pictures were not paired with other PDP candidates.

However, Mbah, who said he was not Chimaroke Nnamani stated that he would not speak for him, and stressed that presently, there was no observable crisis in the party within the state. Also, Mbah challenged journalists to check their facts well in order not to spread falsehood and fake news by asserting that he Mbah had a fraud case with FIB or any anti-Corruption agency, pointing out that he has a clean slate.

“I have no case on corruption with any security agency. I have clean record,” he said, adding: “journalism is a serious profession. I urge you the practitioners to avoid doing things – spreading fake news that would make people think otherwise,” he said.

Speaking specifically on his manifesto, the governorship candidate reiterated that, if elected into office, he would turn Enugu state around economically by increasing the state’s GDP from N4.5 billion to N30 billion in the next eight years. He quickly added that he would embark on aggressive road construction and reconstruction to lessen traffic gridlock in Enugu metropolis and beyond.
