The representative for Enugu North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, has successfully wrapped up an intensive training program focused on renewable energy installation, maintenance, and marketing for youth in his constituency.
The program, which commenced several days ago with over 90 trainees, concluded on Saturday amidst celebration and gratitude from participants and stakeholders. Ten days prior, the lawmaker partnered with the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) to launch a two-week intensive Solar Photovoltaic Installer Certificate Course designed to provide certification to all participants.
Addressing the trainees, Hon. Atu underscored the significance of fully engaging with the program and ensuring that the knowledge acquired is effectively applied. He stated that, if utilized properly, the skills learned would empower not only the participants but also their families and the broader community for generations.
Emphasizing the urgency to make the most of this opportunity, he said, “I am deeply fulfilled that this training took place and that many in my constituency benefited. The onus is on you to enhance and wisely utilize this knowledge. This is a once-in-a-life-time opportunity aimed at providing the youth with skills for economic empowerment that will foster their growth. By applying what you have learned, you can address your own challenges, support your families, and contribute to solving societal issues.
” This is a generational economic empowerment initiative, and it would be a disservice to both God and humanity if you let this knowledge go to waste. Significant resources were dedicated to ensure this training was smooth and effective. I hope to see one of you emerge as a leading expert in renewable energy service and installation in a few years.”
Hon. Atu also highlighted the importance of ongoing support, stating that follow-up would encourage the beneficiaries to take their training seriously.
“I will create a WhatsApp group for all of you to monitor your progress. We want every one of you to succeed, and we believe it can happen. Please, my friends, we must urgently apply this knowledge and use it to help ourselves. I look forward to seeing you rise to the top as the best and most successful entrepreneurs.”
In his remarks, Alhaji Ahmed Bolaji Nagode, the Director-General of the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria, represented by Assistant Chief Instructor Engr. Lemi Jonathan, thanked Hon. Atu for his commitment to his constituents.
He noted that the resources and sacrifices made to realize this training demonstrate the lawmaker’s dedication to improving living standards. He urged participants to make a concerted effort to utilize the knowledge gained, which is essential for the training’s success.
Engr. Jonathan also called on other political leaders to adopt Hon. Atu’s vision for youth economic empowerment as a strategy to reduce unemployment in the state. He reiterated NAPTIN’s commitment to partnering with stakeholders for future training initiatives and commended the program’s consultant, Engr. Chris Ugwu, for a successful execution.
Speaking further, Engr. Chris Ugwu, Chief Consultant of the program and Managing Director/CEO of Synergy Fields Limited, expressed his gratitude to Hon. Atu and NAPTIN for the opportunity to showcase his company’s capabilities. He encouraged participants to apply their newfound knowledge and strive to become the best versions of themselves.
Participants shared their excitement about the golden opportunity, vowing to excel in their endeavors. The event culminated in the distribution of certificates, accompanied by cash awards and starter kits for the participants.
