The Campaign of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) gubernatorial candidate for Enugu State, Frank Nweke Jr, received a boost on Saturday as his home community of Ozalla hosted him to a reception and donated a branded Toyota Sienna in support of his campaign.
Receiving him on the field of St. Paul’s Primary School were thousands of Ozalla residents who showed their support with dancing, singing and masquerade performances, including the presentation of an Ofo by Agadi Iyiagboku after charging Nweke to remain true to his nurture and promises to Enugu State.
In his welcome address, Pharmacist Cyril Aninwike, said that the crowd that gathered was an evidence of the honour accorded to Nweke in his hometown. “Frank Nweke Jr is truly an illustrious son of Ozalla and he is also the most qualified and competent candidate in this race. His administration will restore integrity and excellence to chase mediocrity out of Enugu State. So, it is with one voice that the entire Ozalla pledges absolute support for him to become the next Governor of Enugu State.”
Presenting a branded Toyota Sienna, a Sound System and other items to support his Campaign efforts across the State, Chief Okwudili Chianeke (Okofia n’Nkanu) said the community was pleased to be a part of the history to be made in Enugu State under the leadership of Nweke.
Responding to their effusive show of support, Nweke thanked his people for the consistent and unflinching support from the moment he shared his intentions with them.
“From the moment I was certain of God’s backing for this journey and came to you, my kinsmen and my people, you have remained steadfast with your support. I thank you all, ndi Ozalla both those at home and those abroad, those who call me, those who send funds, those who send prayers. I thank everybody and ask that God bless Ozalla. May God bless you all,” he said.
He assured the people of his preparedness for the task ahead, thanking them for their continued support until his victory at the polls. Nweke went further to urge the people to take advantage of the final day of PVC collection and ensure everyone who was yet to retrieve theirs did so.
Among notable sons and daughters of Ozalla present at the event were High Chief Friday Afam Ani, Okorie Emmanuel (Ezigbo Canada), Bar Andrew Nwani who coordinated the memorable event, and Chief Ikenna Okafor (Ikeoha na Ozalla) who in a vote of thanks declared that he was proud to be from Ozalla.
This reception and donation come after a series of support activities through the campaign season including the presentation of the sacred Ofo Stick by the elders in the community in September 2022.
