Group Berates Ebonyi Senator, Ken Eze, Over Poor Performance

By Magnus Aluma

A youth group under the canopy of Ebonyi Central Youth Forum (ECYF), has unanimously passed a vote of no confidence on Senator Ken Eze, who represents Ebonyi Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

The group made this known during a constituency briefing, Senator Eze held at Onueke in the Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, South East Nigeria, to mark his one year in office.

According to the ECYF, Senator Eze’s performance at his one year in office was not impressive as his representation has so far not impacted positively on the lives of his constituents.

The group led by Hon Clinton Igwe further said, “The people of Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone are yet to feel the impact of the senator’s representation at the National Assembly. His pride, high-handedness, and overbearing nature towards the people have further brought hardship and economic deprivation to us.”

Hon. Igwe told newsmen shortly after the event, that the people of the zone will not allow imposition of any candidate on them again, in the next general election.

He said: “We will not allow any imposition of ungrateful politicians on the party again, because while others are busy benefiting from the goodwill of their representatives, the people of Ebonyi Central have not felt any superlative impact by the Senator, representing the zone.”

He further said:  “it is regrettable and unfortunate that a Senator will openly inform stakeholders of the zone that he bought exercise book to write down names of vulnerable and less privileged persons in the zone that he gave N10,000 financial assistance. The youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone want to unequivocally say that we are disappointed in the representation of Senator Ken Eze.”

Continuing, he said, “we have to hide our faces in shame when he announced even before the media that he bought exercise books and told one of his Aides to write names of the beneficiaries of his N10,000 financial aid.”

“It is highly unacceptable and unfortunate that the rural women who campaigned for him under the sun and in the  rain, risked their lives to vote for him even when it was obvious that he is an unpopular candidate had to be degraded in such a manner,” he maintained.

Igwe regretted that Senator Eze’s representation at the National Assembly, has brought his constituents more hardship than ever, adding that even the fertilisers he shared at the event fell below the people’s expectations.

“He shared about 900 bags, while our people in the House of Representatives shared about 1500. Everything he brings to us is often in short supply, even the food that was shared was in short supply as some people went home more hungry than they came. We are passing a Vote of No Confidence on the Senator for treating our people with the feeling of disdain,” he emphasised.

But in a swift reaction, the Media Aide to the Senator, Mr. Godwin Okafor said: “Don’t mind those people. After the function those that came went home happily and Oga gave them money. The fertilisers was shared to all the Wards across Ebonyi Central zone of the State and money was given to the beneficiaries to transport their fertilizers. He presented his score card and those that were in attendance including Stakeholders were happy.”

Meanwhile, a source who pleaded anonymity said the event was a show of shame. “I attended just to see things for myself because I know who he is. I fuelled my car with 20k just to witness a long speech that ended with nothing. He pronounced 20 bags of fertilizer to wards with one hundred thousand naira. Each Ward has over five hundred participants. What a show of disgrace,” he regretted.

According to him, “Senator Ken Eze just invited us to come over and witness the painting of his new mansion built with the money he made from the National Assembly. This is making it two times he shamelessly organized a useless event. Let’s meet again in 2027.”
