A volunteer youth groups operating under the banner of Omeiheukwu Youth Alliance (OYA) said they have mobilized massive support to make sure the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Engr Anayo Onwuegbu is elected to represent Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency in the 2023 poll.
NewsBits reports that some of the groups of youths, in spite of their party inclinations, are from Greater Awgu area of the Enugu West Senatorial Zone, which is made up of three council areas of Aninri,Awgu and Oji-River in Enugu State, Nigeria.
Popularly known by his Chieftaincy title of Omeiheukwu (One who does great things), Engr Onwuegbu is the founding Chairman/Managing Director of ANBEEZ Services Ltd, an indigenous construction company with Head Office in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, NewsBits was reliably informed.
It was also gathered that ANBEEZ Services Ltd Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) cut across youth empowerment, grassroots sports development, self-initiated rural projects and philanthropic activities to the church as well as the less privileged, hence the PDP candidate is regarded in some circles as the candidate to beat or the “political beautiful bride” in the next year’s general elections.
The OYA explained that Engr Onwuegbu’s various contributions to the socio economic and infrastructure developments of Greater Awgu from his private sector initiatives, was the main reason they are supporting his political aspiration. The youths said they have no doubt that Onwuegbu would bring his experience to bear in consolidating development of the Greater Awgu area.
One of the Youth leaders, Mr Chimaroke Orji, who spoke to reporters after paying courtesy visit to Engr. Onwuegbu at the weekend, explained that they volunteered to act as an advocacy group to garner support for the Civil Engineering-turned politician because of their conviction that “he is the most capable among the candidates of the other parties in the contest.”
Mr. Oji said: “Our reason for coming together is for the ultimate good of our people. We are advocating for the election of Engr. Dr Anayo Onwuegbu to represent Aninri/Awgu/Oji River federal constituency in the green chambers because we have found him the best and most capable. His antecedents speak volume, and his experience will count.”
According to the youth leader, “We want the best for our people. We have followers or members across the three local government areas of Aninri, Awgu and Oji-River.We are penetrating the wards.”
