The All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leader in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu state, Lucky Idoko, has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen.
Reports said Idoko was killed in his hometown, Unadu community in Igbo-Eze South Local Government in day light on Saturday while going about his business activities on a motorbike.
Although, details of his reported murder are still not clear, our reporter learnt that Idoko, who was also chairman of Vigilante group in his community was said to have been shot dead while the passenger he conveyed on his motorbike at the time of the attack escaped unhurt.
A source, who is also a chieftain of the main opposition party in the state, who didn’t want to be quoted, said: “the APC chieftain was going about his business in his hometown in Unadu when the incident happened. What we don’t know is why he should be killed at this critical political moment. I don’t also know if he has problem with his security outfit of which he is the head.”
But, when contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Daniel Ndukwe confirmed the shooting and killing of Idoko, adding that the command has launched an investigation to ascertain those behind the act.
Ndukwe said: “Yes, the command has launched an investigation into the case of the alleged shooting and murder of one Lucky Idoko ‘m’, at Unadu community of Igbo-Eze South LGA, in the afternoon hours of 08/10/2022, by yet-to-be-identified armed hoodlums.
“Further development will be communicated, please.”
