Hundreds Of Protesters Break Loose In Asokoro, Defy Gunshots Teargas

A large number of protesters are currently marching on a major road in Kugbo, Asokoro, within the Abuja Municipal Council Area (AMAC). The protesters, numbering in the hundreds, have refused to retreat despite gunshots and teargas fired by security operatives.

A Federal High Court in Abuja had restricted protests to the Moshood Abiola Stadium. While some protesters proceeded to the stadium, others gathered at various locations across the nation’s capital. Security operatives are struggling to control the crowd of young people who insist they will remain on the streets until their demands for an improved economy are met.

Asokoro, where the protesters are located, is home to Nigeria’s seat of power, government establishments, military barracks, and the head office of the Department of State Services (DSS).
