Ahead of the August 1 protest over the rising cost of food and hunger in the land reports have it that top Nigerian politicians, Senators, and House of Representatives members are fleeing the country.
It was revealed that the politicians are running for fear of the unknown due to what happened during the last EndSARS protests when politicians became major targets. Already the Senate is reported to have proceeded on recess to resume after the demonstrations.
The politicians are said to be heading abroad where most of their families already reside. Apart from such politicians such as Senator Ali Ndume who have been outspoken on the part of the suffering masses, most other top guns in Nigeria politics have concluded plans to ensure they are not near their states and constituencies while the protests last.
The government has continued to make efforts to stop the protest expressing fears that the exercise planned to be peaceful could be hijacked and may turn violent. Some of the countries named as possible destinations include the United Kingdom, United States, UAE, France, and Canada among others.
