The governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP), in Enugu State, Barr. Chijioke Edeoga has assured the people of Enugu State that he would do everything legally within his power to reclaim his mandate.
Barr. Edeoga spoke at Obollo-Afor while celebrating the victory of Obinna Ijele, the member-elect for Udenu State constituency in Enugu State House of Assembly. He said “no retreat, no surrender”, and that there would be no negotiations with anyone since the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) had chosen to steal the mandate which the people of Enugu State had given him.
The results of various State Assembly elections that had previously been withheld for unknown reasons have now been made public by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Enugu State, on Tuesday.
“They’ve been holding onto your triumph since the election for nine days, but today they’ve declared you the winner. God has greater power than people do. Anyone holding something that is not theirs must relinquish it when their hands begin to hurt.
“Since the election, when they temporarily stole our mandate, this is my first public appearance. I’ve been living in my home ever since, but I’m here to rejoice with the newly elected House of Assembly members from the Udenu Local Government Area.
“The power of man will never be able to overcome the power of God, so we must always be in a state of prayer, pleading for his favour and mercy. They are attempting to obstruct the truth and are rushing to Abuja and other locations in an effort to prevent our win, but the voters in Enugu State have already cast their ballots, and they chose the Labour Party, (LP), and Chijioke Edeoga.
“Enugu State folks voted for the Labour Party and Chijioke Edeoga, and I will stand wherever Enugu State residents do. To ensure that we follow the wishes of our beloved Enugu State, I shall stop at nothing. Thus, no retreating and no giving in. No bargaining. Upward and never downward till victory is guaranteed,” declared Edeoga.
