The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday, honoured the Super Eagles and management when he presented them with the national honour of the Order of the Niger, MON.
The President also thanked the squad for displaying the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the 2023 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, tournament in Cote d’Ivoire. Tinubu made the presentation when he received the Super Eagles at the State House Council Chambers in Abuja.

President Tinubu also presented them with one flat in Nigeria and a plot of Land in the Federal Capital Territory as a sign of gratitude for their service, and thanked the team for their resilience and for uplifting the spirit of the nation through their play in the tournament despite the loss of the trophy.
The Super Eagles had lost 1-2 to the hosts, the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire at the AFCON finals played in Abidjan on Sunday. At the beginning of the month-long tournament, nobody gave Nigeria a chance but the team worked so hard to get to the final but narrowly lost to the host nation.
