The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed no fewer than 2,200 personnel and 17 patrol vehicles for yuletide special operation in Enugu State. The Commandant of NSCDC Enugu State Command, Dr Elijah Willie, disclosed this to newsmen in a press briefing in Enugu on Monday, which he titled: “Goodwill Message on the Yuletide and New Year Deployments.”
The Commandant said that the already deployed 2,200 personnel included officers and men both on plain-clothes and uniform, adding that they had been deployed to every nook and cranny of the state.
He assured all residents of the state of their safety and security in line with the NSCDC Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property. According to him, our aim is to create a safe environment for all to celebrate the season without fear. “As part of our operations; our security personnel will be positioned at major highways, worship centers, recreation spots and other strategic locations.
“Patrols will be intensified across urban and rural areas to promptly detect and respond to any security threats. “Intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance will be prioritised to neutralise criminal elements.
“Special attention will be given to markets, motor parks, and other crowded areas,” he said. Willie said that the Command’s emergency response teams would remain on standby to ensure swift action in case of any incidents.
The NSCDC state boss appreciated Gov. Peter Mbah for his unwavering support and visionary leadership, which had greatly enhanced NSCDC operations in the state. He said, “I also commend the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for his guidance and the resources he has provided to ensure our effectiveness in securing Enugu State.
“I urge everyone to celebrate responsibly while remaining vigilant. Please report any suspicious activities promptly to the nearest NSCDC office. “Security is a shared responsibility, and together, we can maintain peace and safety across the state.
“On behalf of the entire Enugu State Command of the NSCDC, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year. Thank you for your trust and cooperation as we work to make this festive season safe for everyone.”
