PAINFUL: Oyo State Former Governor, Abiola Ajimobi Is Dead

The sad new filtering into our newsroom has it that the former Governor of Oyo State, Mr. Abiola Ajimobi, has passed on at the age 70.

News over the past few weeks had centered around the fact the former number one citizen of Oyo State tested positive for the dreaded Coronavirus (COVID-19). Later he was reported that he was move into the intensive care unit where he allegedly battled coronavirus-related symptoms for a month and was also discharged.

The former governor who held sway in Oyo State between 2011 to 2019, was named the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the ruling All Progressives Congress last month after Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was disgraced out of affice, which he sadly did not resume as it coincided with the time he was battling with his health.

The former governor was hospitalised at First Cardiologist and Cardiovascular Consultants Hospital, Lagos on June 2, 2020. He was said to have tested negative for COVID-19, but the illness had caused his health to deteriorate. His wife, Florence, had earlier been hospitalised with him. She was, however, discharged.

He was said to have been confirmed positive earlier and was managing the situation at home before the illness worsened and he had to go to a hospital. And like other rich Nigerians, he was said to have opted for private treatment rather than a public facility after his condition worsened. A source close to the family said the former governor had diabetes and other ailments.
