Police Urged To Investigate N50m Ransom Demand By Kidnappers To Free Medical Students

Doctors are calling on the Nigerian government and police force to investigate an X account, Kingsley Aondona @King_aondona, who raised an alarm that kidnappers are demanding a N50 million ransom for the release of the 20 medical students of the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos who were kidnapped on their way to Enugu for a convention, on Thursday.

According to the message from @King_aondona believed to be one of the kidnapped Medical Students (Kingsley Aondona), the kidnappers are also threatening to start killing the students on Saturday if no payment is made.

“We were kidnapped on our way to Enugu for a convention @Nigerian_Doctor there are requesting for 50 million for 20 of us medical students please help us, and we haven’t eaten for two days. 08163420157- pius that is who we are gathering the money with. They said they would start killing us tomorrow,” Aondona said.”

In reaction to the post, @Nigerian_Doctor who alerted the public of the kidnap of the 20 medical students yesterday, called for the investigation of the X account and the said phone number belonging to Pius.

@Nigerian_Doctor wrote, “Kidnappers, you will crumble! Security agencies, What are we waiting for? Mobilisation money? Pls, respond to my DM or reach out. Tell us what you need, to do your jobs! We plead for an urgent investigation of this Pius number: 08163420157 and tracing of Aondona’s number.”

The medical students, from the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos, were reportedly travelling together when they were ambushed by gunmen around 5:30pm in the Otukpo area of Benue State. The State Police Command confirmed the incident on Friday morning, sparking concerns for the safety of the abducted students.
