Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has lampooned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over ‘go rest remark’.
NewsBits recalls that during a luncheon held in honour of the 10th Legislative Assembly of Rivers State on Saturday, Wike highlighted Atiku’s electoral failures.
Wike said having contested the presidential election in 2019 and 2023 as the PDP candidate and lost, Atiku has been rejected by Nigerians. He said: “Assuming but not conceding, he has lost so many times that Nigerians have also rejected him.
“If you say that an election we did not contest or participate in shows that Nigerians have rejected us, it is okay; you that contested and failed woefully, Nigerians have rejected you (Atiku); therefore, pack and go home.”
Reacting to the remark, Shaibu said Wike’s bitterness has made him age like a “weary septuagenarian overnight,” noting that resentment has filled his heart. Shaibu, in the post via X, added that the Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, is more than a match for Wike.
He said: “Who truly needs rest, @GovWike or @Atiku? Can’t you see how the weight of bitterness has aged a man in his 50s into the likeness of a weary septuagenarian overnight? Such is the toll of a heart consumed by resentment—unable to show grace, incapable of charity.
“Rather than face the truth, he deflects, but it’s clear that the young and resolute Fubara is more than a match for him.”
