The Labour Party (LP) Enugu State Chapter has advised all electorate in the state to solidify the mandate of Mr Peter Obi, Labour Party Presidential Candidate by voting massively for the party’s candidates on March 11.
The LP Spokesperson in Enugu State, Dr Mcginger Ibeneme, gave the advice on Wednesday in Enugu while reading out the resolutions of a high-level meeting held by party faithful and youths of Oji River Local Government Area on Tuesday.
NewsBits recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled Saturday, March 11, for Governorship and State Assembly elections in the country as well as the Enugu East Senatorial Zone poll earlier postponed. Ibeneme also said that the resolution made it clear that there had been continuous communication and good working relationship between Obi and all the Labour Party candidates in Enugu State especially its Governorship Candidate, Dr Chijioke Edeoga.
“The resolution hailed Nigerians, especially the Enugu State electorate for voting their conscience and voting massively for the Labour Party in the February 25 polls. It assured Nigerians, especially the electorate and good people of Enugu of plans for adequate security in the coming elections on March 11 as worked out by security agencies,” he said.
Ibeneme said that the resolution “condemns acts of violence in the state” especially the gruesome murder of Mr Oyibo Chukwu the Senatorial Candidate for Enugu East Senatorial Zone on February 22.
“It hailed the choice of his brother Chief Kelvin Chukwu as his replacement for the senatorial seat. He said: “We are enjoining the good people of Enugu East Senatorial Zone to revenge with their votes on March 11. We are also calling on all party faithful, supporters and all Nigerians to remain peaceful but prayerful and resolute as Obi would reclaim his mandate in court.”
