Strike Call Off: Power Restored In Entire South-East – EEDC

By Tony Adibe

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has said that electricity power supply has been restored in the entire South-East, Nigeria following suspension of the industrial action by Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).

This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Enugu by the Head, Corporate Communications of EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh.

NewsBits recalls that the NLC and TUC called off the two-day strike on Wednesday evening following agreement with the Federal Government to fish out and penelise those that brutalised the President of NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, while dealing with labour matters in Imo.

Ezeh said as a result of the development, all EEDC’s sources of supply at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) stations “were restored Wednesday night, and our outgoing feeders are now in service, except those on local fault.”

He said: “In addition, supply to Egbu TCN station which serves our customers in Imo State was restored last night as well. “We sincerely appreciate our esteemed customers, especially those in Imo State, for their understanding during this trying time. EEDC assures them of our continued commitment to providing improved services.”
