The terrorists suspected to be Fulani who attacked Maranatha Baptist Church and St Moses Catholic Church in the Rubu community of Kajuru council of Kaduna State on Sunday, have demanded for N100 million to free about 36 worshippers in their custody.
Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan said three persons were killed in the attack but did not explain what the Nigerian security authorities are doing to track the terrorists, and free the abducted persons. A concerned resident who spoke with our reporter, and who would not want his name in prints said, “it was unfortunate that terrorists would kill Christian worshippers in Nigeria, abduct as many people as they want, keep them within the shores of Nigeria, and demand ransom from the government as if it is a normal transaction.
“This is an abnormal development that Christian places of worship across the country have increasingly become primary targets for Islamic terrorists in Nigeria. I challenge the federal government because I don’t want to believe that the Nigerian army cannot do something about the spate of insecurity across the country. The government of President Muhammadu Buhari should do more than commiserate with the dead and the abducted and do something to stop these attacks on Christian places of worship except they want the public to believe the allegation that the government.
A traditional leader of Angwan Fada at Rubu community, Elisha Mari, who was one of the kidnapped victims in the Sunday attack, said the bandits stormed their villages on over 30 motorcycles and took them away. He spoke to journalists when heads of security agencies and a Kaduna government delegation visited the area yesterday. He said he was freed because he is a traditional leader but was asked to raise at least 100 million in ransom before others in captivity would be released.
