Tinubu Takes Over From Embaló As ECOWAS Chairman

President Bola Tinubu has emerged as the new chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). His announcement was made at the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government on Sunday in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau.

Tinubu, who attended the forum of West African leaders for the first will succeed Guinea-Bissau’s President Umaro Embaló at the helm. “We will take democracy seriously, democracy is very tough, but it is the form of government,” the Nigerian leader said after he received handover documents from the outgoing, Umaro Embaló.
