Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has revealed the biggest mistake former President Muhammadu Buhari made while he was in power that made him failed as a leader.
Ndume, in an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, said Buhari was not in charge of his government the way President Bola Tinubu is in charge. He said Buhari would give his aides assignment and would not bother to monitor them, which led to too many kleptocrats in his government. Ndume said Tinubu is fully in charge unlike Buhari.
“That is one thing with him (Tinubu). People think Tinubu is authoritative. The truth is that he takes charge unlike our former president. He (Buhari) would just give you an assignment and would not look over you. That was the mistake President Buhari did. He ended up confessing that he had too many kleptocrats than people who genuinely showed interest,” he said.
Ndume said he knew there were so many kleptocrats in the Buhari government, saying even the former president confessed to that.
“I know there were too many kleptocrats in the Buhari government. He confessed recently. He admitted that there were people who took overpower themselves,” he said. He added “But in the Tinubu government he can’t do that. You can see what he did to his own son. During the council he was going there. He threw him up. If it were another person, he would do nothing.”
