Following the announcement by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regarding redesigning the Nigerian current – the Naira, the Management of Heritage Bank has taken the message to its customers. In a communication, which the bank titled ‘New Naira Notes Coming!’ the bank said:
Esteemed Customer,
Following the recent announcement by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regarding the planned redesign and issuance of ₦200, ₦500 & ₦1000 bank notes, please be notified of the following:
- Effective December 15, 2022; The new denomination of banknotes will be in circulation.
- The current ₦200, ₦500 & ₦1000 banknotes will remain as legal tender until January 31, 2023.
- The proposed new and current banknotes will be accepted as legal tender until January 31, 2022, after which the current notes (₦200, ₦500 & ₦1000) cease to be legal tender.
- Customers are advised to make all their cash deposits in the affected denomination (at no charge), at any of our Experience centres.
To further facilitate this process, our Experience Centres will be open on Saturdays between 10:00am & 2:00pm (except on Public Holidays) from November 2022 to January 2023.
