Zinedine Zidane is not interested in becoming the new manager of Manchester United. The club according to BBC Sport approached the former Real Madrid manager Zidane following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure.

However, Zidane has no intention of taking charge of United at this stage. During his time at Real Madrid Zidane worked with Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane, who are both now at United. Guilliem Balague does report, though, that Zidane would consider replacing Mauricio Pochettino at PSG if the Argentine heads to United.

Zidane is also interested in managing the French national team, with current boss Didier Deschamps’ contract expiring after next year’s World Cup. Across his two spells as Real Madrid manager, Zidane won three Champions Leagues and two LaLiga titles. The 49-year-old hasn’t managed since his departure from Real at the end of last season. Pochettino is among the favourites to take over from Solskjaer, whose departure from United was officially confirmed on Sunday. Solskjaer’s spell in charge of the club came to an end after United suffered a 4-1 defeat away to Watford. Whoever succeeds Solskjaer will have much work to do, with United currently in ninth place in the Premier League.
