In a tragic turn of events, the mobile police officer abducted near the Kampani community in Bashar District, Plateau State, has been found dead.
Earlier reports by Daily Trust detailed how the officer and a soldier, both part of a security team combating the bandit menace plaguing the border regions with Taraba State, were ambushed. While the soldier managed to escape, the policeman was not as fortunate.
Sources in Wase town revealed that the lifeless body of the officer was discovered in the bush at Bangalala on Sunday, a grim reminder of the ongoing violence in the area. As of the time this report, DSP Alabo Alfred, spokesperson for the state police command, has not responded to inquiry regarding the incident.
