Late Ella
There was commotion in Benue State on Friday, following the alleged killing of a 400-level student of Kwararafa University, identified as Ella, by men of the Nigeria Police.
Sources alleged that policemen on a stop-and-search operation at Wurukum Roundabout in Makurdi, Benue State, opened fire, and a bullet hit Ella. It was learnt that Ella died instantly.
A human rights activist, Ukan Kurugh, said that the victim was in the vehicle when officers attached to the Makurdi E Division discharged their weapons, with a bullet fatally striking her. Kurugh described the killing as “another unacceptable loss of innocent life” and demanded justice for the slain student. Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, is yet to confirm the incident.
