Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said supporters of Mr Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), known as Obidients, are disobedient. Umahi made the passing remark at the 2025 ministerial press briefing in Abuja on Friday.

As he was signalled to conclude his presentation, Umahi said he would do so quickly and that he would not behave like the Labour Party members. “I don’t want to be disobedient, or be a member of the Labour Party, that are very disobedient,” he said, attracting laughter from the audience.

Meanwhile, the Minister added that the President Bola Tinubu-led administration had achieved 90 per cent completion of 260 palliative projects nationwide worth N208 billion. According to him, “the Tinubu administration is committed to completing its 64 new road projects and four legacy projects across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.”

He noted that of the projects carried out nationwide, the government has completed 19 in the last 23 months. Umahi added that infrastructure development, such as the construction of roads and bridges, is key to Nigeria’s economic growth.

He said: “Mr. President, 260 palliative projects have been completed to 90 per cent, worth N208 billion. The road and bridge sector is the major sector that contributes to the gross domestic product and economy. I commend the president for his commitment to infrastructure development.”
