The Institute of Chartered Mediation and Conciliation (ICMC) Enugu branch and Yoruba Community in Enugu have bestowed the award of excellence in Mediation and Community Development on the Chairman of Enugu East local government area, Pastor Beloved-Dan Anike.
The ICMC chairman in Enugu, Mr. S.I.D. Iyida conferred a golden award on Anike in recognition of his outstanding contributions to mediation advocacy, community development, and selfless service to humanity.
Both awards were bestowed on the chairman in Enugu on Thursday during the 2025 annual lecture of the ICMC, with the leadership of the institute. The honours are for Anike’s transformative impact in advancing the use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, especially at the grassroots level.

“A Fellow of ICMC, Anike was instrumental to the recent passage of a pioneering law establishing the Enugu East Land Mediation Center, aimed at institutionalising mediation as a tool for resolving land-related conflicts and decongestion of the courts. Beyond his mediation strides, Anike’s achievements in community development were highlighted as key reasons for the recognition.
“Notable among them are the electrification of 13 rural and urban communities through the installation of brand-new 500KVA transformers. Enrolment of over 5,000 residents into the Enugu State Universal Health Coverage scheme; ongoing construction of critical access roads to improve mobility and infrastructure across the LGA” he said.
According to the ICMC chairman, the interventions have fostered peace, improved quality of life, and enhanced access to social amenities, thereby advancing the vision of a livable and inclusive Enugu East.
In a related development, the Yoruba community in Enugu State also presented Anike with an Award of Excellence, commending his detribalised and inclusive leadership style. Speaking during the presentation, the Oba of the Yoruba community in Enugu, Alhaji Abdulazeez Olatunji, described Anike as a leader sent by God for divine assignment.
Olatunji lauded his commitment to human capital development, women empowerment, and rural transformation, which benefits both indigenes and non-indigenes alike. The Oba was accompanied by prominent Yoruba leaders and stakeholders in the state, reinforcing the message of unity, diversity, and equity that had defined Anike’s administration.
