Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) Nyesom Wike, has confirmed his reconciliation with the suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara. It could be recalled that a rift between the duo culminated in the declaration of a state of emergency in the oil rich state.
However, on Thursday night, the protagonists and the members of the Rivers State House of Assembly met with President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa. Wike has now confirmed that peace has been restored. Speaking to journalists after the meeting with Tinubu, he said the disagreement had been resolved.
Wike said: “Peace has finally returned to the state, we will work together with the governor, and the governor has agreed to work with us. We are members of the same political family, and yes, we are humans, so there will be time for disagreement and time to settle your disagreement, which has been settled today.
“We have come to report to Mr President that this is what we have agreed, so for me, everything is over.”
