Enugu State has concluded plans to host in Enugu, the state capital, Nigeria’s first-ever Ethereum Conference, tagged “ETH Enugu ’25.”
The ETH Enugu ’25 is said to have redefined the Tech Landscape, and is billed to last from Monday, 4th to Saturday, 16th August, 2025 – making it a 2-week historic tech event – apparently, a first-of-its-kind experience that “fuses tech, culture, and community like never before.” And it boasts to attract over 200 participants on a daily basis, the organisers said.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Enugu otherwise known as the Coal City, the organisers explained that the first-of-its-kind conference is a “new blueprint” for how “ecosystems take root, grow, and thrive across Africa”, hence, the Coal City would over the course of two weeks, “transform into a living hub for builders and dreamers, hosting the nation’s very first Builder Residency, Pop-up City Hackathon, and Ethereum Conference — all rolled into one bold experiment in decentralized co-creation.”
According to the organisers, participants from such countries as Canada, the U.S.A., Togo, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, and Colombia have already confirmed their interest and attendance. Therefore, the ETH ’25, said to be shaping up to be one of the most international Web3 gatherings on the African continent, is already drawing a Global Crowd Builders from across the world, the organizers also said in the statement.
“ETH Enugu ’25 is designed around a simple but powerful idea: What happens when you bring builders together in a focused, collaborative environment and let them live, build, and share for two straight weeks?,” the organisers further said.
Leader of “ETH Enugu 25,” and a longtime builder in Nigeria’s crypto space, Mr. Okoye Kevin Chibuoyim, a.k.a. Ezemmuo Blockchain, while commenting on the epoch-making event, said: “This isn’t mine alone. It belongs to everyone building for the future of Ethereum in Africa.
“This isn’t just another Web3 meetup. This is an invitation to imagine what’s possible — when protocol meets people, and when local ecosystems are treated as launchpads, not footnotes.” Chibuoyim further explained that from Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 15,
“50 selected developers, creators, researchers, and designers from across Africa and beyond will live and build together in Enugu. For two weeks, they’ll explore new Ethereum frontiers, co-create protocols, test ideas, and form lasting collaborations – supported by daily workshops, mentorship, and co-working spaces. This is where visions take shape and ship.”
The ‘Ezemmuo Blockchain’ (King-Spirit of Blockchain) also gave more insight into the entire ceremony, which would involve researchers and scholars as well as creators rubbing minds together.
He said, “The city becomes part of the experience. Co-living, co-working, local meetups, spontaneous jams, dev hangouts, cultural exchanges – Enugu & South East Nigeria becomes a blockchain-native city. Every part of the Pop-up City is designed to mimic what a vibrant, on-chain ecosystem could feel like IRL – full of people, purpose, and protocol. Over 200+ participants are expected daily.
“The Ethereum Conference (Aug 16). The grand finale. A full-day conference packed with protocol deep-dives, research showcases, founder panels, cultural sessions, and project demos. Over 1,000 attendees — including developers, founders, researchers, ecosystem leads, and on-chain communities — will converge to celebrate the past two weeks and look ahead to Ethereum’s future in Africa.
“Home to the Ethereum Research Village
At the heart of it all is the Ethereum Research Village (ERV) — a space for deep technical exchange, real-time experimentation, and localized research. It’s where protocol meets purpose. Alongside it is a community-powered pop-up city hackathon focused on building usable, locally relevant Ethereum tools and applications.”
