The Deputy Rector of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, Dr. Patrick Chukwuemeka Ejim, was pleasantly surprised and could not hold back tears of joy as his students interrupted his lecture mid-way to celebrate his birthday.
Ejim was reportedly lecturing the HND final students of the Business Administration and Management earlier in the week when one of the students stepped out and carried a table to the centre of the classroom. The surprised Ejim, who seemed rather confused about the unfolding scenario, snapped at the student, “What is this? What’s the meaning of this?”

NewsBits learnt that before the lecturer could end his questions, the student carried a gift from his desk and placed it on the table. Almost immediately, other students then started trooping out, dropping their different gift items. The presentation of gift items was said to have been followed by a loud shout of, happy birthday songs, and lots more, thereby electrifying the classroom and its surroundings.
Ejim, who remained in shock while the drama lasted, later could not hold his emotions, as tears of joy dropped from his eyes. A video of the surprise birthday package was shared by a Facebook user, Agu Ifeanyi Destiny.
He wrote an accompanying message: “The best lecturer of the year surprises…The Deputy Rector of Institution (sic) Management And Technology (IMT) (sic), “Dr. Ejim,” was surprised today as the best lecturer of the year in the NABAMS Department.”
