The member representing Ezinihitte/Ahiazu Mbaise Federal Constituency in Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu has said that the Mbaise nation “thrives not only in our homeland, but in the hearts of her sons and daughters across the globe.”
Rt. Hon. Chinedu, who was elected to office under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the assertion during the Mbaise Europe Convention held in Malaga, Spain, over the weekend.
NewsBits reports that the Lawmaker had flown into Spain from the UK, where he had visited, although he did not disclose his mission in the UK to this writer.
The video clip of the well-attended Malaga event in Spain, which was shown to this writer during a video telephone conversation with the Lawmaker, showed the politician sandwiched in the midst of his Mbaise people, who gave him a rowdy and pleasantly tumultuous reception.
“As you can see, we’re in Malaga, Spain, doing our Mbaise Europe Convention. I am in the midst of my people, Ndi-Mbaise in Europe,” the politician announced to this writer on the video phone. “This place is very noisy with the music blaring through the loudspeakers. So, we will talk later,” he said.
NewsBits learnt that the Mbaise Europe Convention is an annual event which aims to achieve unbreakable unity and cultural revival, as well as economic development of the Mbaise nation. “It serves as a link between the people of Mbaise at home and those in the Diaspora,” NewsBits was informed.
However, in a press release issued by the Media Assistant to the Lawmaker, Mr. Nnamdi Ukasanya, and made available to NewsBits, Rt. Hon. Chinedu had, in his goodwill message to the organisers, made a clarion call for unity of the entire Mbaise nation.
He said, “Mbaise has never lacked talent or determination. What we must deepen is the unity to turn these gifts into lasting results. Let this convention be remembered not only for the joy it brings, but also for the commitments we make and the work we pursue long after Malaga.”
He also spoke on the relevance of the Mbaise culture and the need for Ndi-Mbaise to uphold it wherever they might find themselves, even on shores beyond the African continent, reminding the participants that “culture is not confined by geography but thrives in shared values and lived experiences.”
The politician further restated: “Every handshake, every reunion, and every burst of laughter is proof that Mbaise thrives, not only in our homeland, but in the hearts of her sons and daughters across the globe. You have carried our language, our traditions, and our pride beyond borders, keeping us united despite the barriers of distance and time.”
While saluting the various committees that put the event together, and recognising its different perspectives or scope, Hon. Chinedu, told the huge gathering: “Events of this magnitude are never accidental. They are the product of sleepless nights of planning, bold decisions, and the courage to believe it could be done.”
Part of the press release by Ukasanya, entitled, “MBAISE SPIRIT BEYOND BORDERS WITH RT. HON. EMEKA MARTINS CHINEDU AT THE 2025 EUROPE CONVENTION,” gave graphic details of the atmosphere in Malaga, Spain upon Chinedu’s arrival at the venue. It read inter alia:
