The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mr. Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has tasked the 195 newly recruited and trained Police Constables on the need to always maintain professionalism and integrity while discharging their constitutional duties.
The new 195 police constables have graduated from the Police College, Oji-River in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State, according to the spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe in a statement he issued.
NewsBits recalls that the 195 Police Constables from Enugu State, comprising 124 males and 71 females, are part of a total of 379 Recruit Constables drawn from Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.
They were trained in various aspects of policing for six months at the Police College, Oji-River, and passed out on 7th October 2025 under the supervision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM.
Addressing the officers upon welcoming them at the State Police Headquarters, Enugu, CP Giwa admonished them to see their recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force as an opportunity to professionally serve the nation and contribute meaningfully to humanity.
The Commissioner, while congratulating and wishing them a successful policing career, charged the Constables to “shun extortion and all forms of corruption, and to eschew every temptation to misuse the Police uniform to oppress citizens or enrich themselves unlawfully.”
He warned that he would not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone who acts otherwise. Giwa further announced that the new Police Constables, alongside those recruited before them, will undergo short but intensive tactical and operational training immediately after their post-college leave.
He explained that the training is designed to further strengthen and enhance their combat and operational crime-fighting capabilities.
