The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the postponement of its 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

A statement on Monday night, signed by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, announced the decision. The meeting was scheduled to be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The party said the NEC meeting was postponed owing to current developments.

It said, “in view of recent developments in the Party, the National Working Committee (NWC) in exercise of its powers pursuant to Section 29 (2)(b) of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017) has at its emergency meeting on Monday, 13th October, 2025 approved the postponement of the 103rd NEC meeting to a new date that will be communicated to members in due course.

“All NEC members should please note the postponement and be guided accordingly.” This comes amid a series of defections, which hit the party in the past few days. The climax will be the defection of Enugu State Governor, Barr Peter Mbah to the All Progressives Congress, APC, today, Tuesday.

At least two other governors are also said to be on the verge of dumping the party in the next few days. Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State is also reported to be on his way to the APC.

Mbah and Diri were elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and have reportedly concluded plans to dump their party for the APC. They are expected to do so on October 14, but while Mbah’s defection is confirmed, it could not be confirmed by press time if Diri will declare today.

Meanwhile, the PDP is still grappling with the role of its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who is believed to be doing the bidding of Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
