The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, Mr. Mamman Bitrus Giwa, was honoured with an Award of Excellence by the Anambra State People Living in Enugu (ASPE), in recognition of his “outstanding performance in crime prevention and control” in the Coal City State.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO SP Daniel Ndukwe on Sunday, the Command said that the award was presented to the Commissioner during the ASPE 2025 Anambra Day/Iwaji Festival and Award Presentation Ceremony held on Saturday at the Michael Okpara Square, Independence Layout, Enugu.
Ndukwe said that in his remarks after receiving the award, Mr. Giwa reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to sustaining a professional and proactive policing approach in the state. He emphasized that the Command under his watch will continue to intensify efforts towards “preventing crimes and tackling them decisively whenever prevention fails,” according to the police spokesman.
Ndukwe said the Commissioner expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of ASPE, as well as Ndị Anambra residing in Enugu State, for finding him worthy of the honour. Giwa also urged them to continue supporting the Police in its ongoing efforts to rid Enugu State of criminal elements and make it safer for all residents, the PPRO said.
