Kwankwaso, former Kano State Governor
A member of the US Congress, representing West Virginia’s Second District, Rep Riley M. Moore has come hard on a former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, over his comments on the alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria.
For the past few days, there have been heavy reactions following the United States President Donald Trump’s classification of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern. He also threatened a military invasion should Nigerian leaders fail to end the killing of Christians. Reacting, Kwankwaso denied Christian genocide.
According to the former presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, the insecurity facing Nigeria “does not distinguish based on religious, ethnic, or political beliefs”. Rep Moore has now hit him hard over that comment.
Sharing the statement on his official X handle, Moore linked Kwankwaso to the alleged death of some Nigerian Christians. According to the lawmaker, Kwankwaso instituted the sharia law, which he claimed made blasphemy “punishable by death”.
The US lawmaker wrote, “Governor – do you care to comment on your own complicity in the death of Christians? You instituted Sharia law. You signed the law that makes so-called blasphemy punishable by death”.
