Dr Sam Amadi
The Director, Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, Sam Amadi, has called on Nigerian leaders to address religious rights and stop deflecting. Amadi made the call on Monday when he appeared as a guest in an interview on Arise Television.
His comment is coming following the declaration of Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’ over allegation of Christian genocide by the US President Donald Trump. President Trump also threatened that he had asked the Defence Department to prepare for possible military action in Nigeria if the Nigerian government “continues to allow the killing of Christians”.
Reacting, Amadi said, “The criteria in the US International Freedom Act are clear. In cases where a state fails to protect the rights of its citizens, the US government can prioritise action. “Nigeria has failed to address the issue of religious rights. People should never be victimised for their religious beliefs.”
