The police have justified the arrest and subsequent remand of the arrest of Samuel Ojeogwu, brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, popularly known as Sammy West. Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command offered the explanation in a statement issued on Friday.

This came after Ojeogwu was arrested in Lagos and taken to Abuja. There have been controversies surrounding his whereabouts, with his family members raising alarm that they could not trace him. His sister, Regina Daniels, had earlier raised alarm on social media, accusing the police of siding with her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, and insisting that her brother was innocent.

However, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command said Samuel has been arraigned before a court in Abuja over allegations of criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, and theft.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, who revealed that the move followed a petition submitted to the FCT Metro Area Command on October 28, 2025, against Ojeogwu and three other individuals.

She said, “On 28th October 2025, the FCT Metro Area Command received a petition against one Mr Samuel Ojeogwu, and three others, alleging criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, theft, and cyber-bullying.”

According to Adeh, Ojeogwu repeatedly ignored police invitations before he was arrested in Lagos and later transferred to Abuja for questioning and further investigation.

“Mr Ojeogwu was arrested in Lagos on the authority of a duly issued arrest warrant from a competent court and subsequently conveyed to Abuja for further investigation,” Adeh stated.

She added that after the investigation was completed, Ojeogwu was charged before a competent court in Abuja on November 6, 2025, for offences bordering on criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, and theft.

“He has been remanded by the court pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions,” Adeh stated. The police spokesperson reaffirmed the command’s dedication to due process and professional policing, adding, “The FCT Police Command remains committed to professional policing, due process, and the rule of law.”

The case has drawn widespread attention, especially as it coincides with family tensions involving Regina Daniels. In a viral video, the actress was seen crying uncontrollably, saying, “I will go back,” as she expressed distress over her brother’s detention and other personal struggles.

Her emotional outburst followed ongoing media reports of marital issues with her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, whom she had earlier accused of domestic violence in a social media post.

Nwoko denied the claims, attributing Regina’s behaviour to drug and alcohol use, insisting she needed rehabilitation. Amid the controversy, Regina shared a heartfelt moment online, announcing that her estranged parents had reconciled after years of separation a development she described as a silver lining amid her family’s ongoing crisis.
