Abducted Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Muhammad Sama’ila-Bagudo, has been reportedly freed. The politician spent over one week in bandits’ captivity.
He was kidnapped from his hometown in Bagudo Local Government Area on Friday, November 1. The lawmaker was leaving the mosque for his residence after observing prayer when the bandits seized him.
A local radio station in Birnin Kebbi, which confirmed his release, did not give details at the time of filing this report. The All Progressives Congress, APC, Publicity Secretary in the state, Isa Assalafy, confirmed that the Deputy Speaker was released on Saturday.
However, the police are yet to confirm the release of the lawmaker. As of the time of filing this report, it is unclear whether ransom was paid for his freedom.
