Three students of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH, have died in an auto crash. It was gathered that the students lost their lives on Saturday in a multi-vehicle accident along the route leading to the Ikorodu Roundabout in Lagos State.
The victims, two males and one female, were confirmed dead at the scene, while seven others, including tricycle operators, sustained serious injuries in the crash. The accident involved an unregistered sand-laden tipper truck, a Toyota Corolla with registration number SMK 42 AJ, an MPV bus, and four tricycles.
Traffic authorities reported that the tipper suffered a mechanical brake failure while travelling at high speed, causing the driver to lose control and plough into several vehicles and tricycles along the busy corridor.
Emergency responders from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, and other agencies quickly arrived at the scene.
The injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment, while the bodies of the deceased students were taken to the General Hospital, Ikorodu mortuary. LASTMA officials later cleared the wrecked vehicles and debris from the road to restore normal traffic flow.
